Art, Heart & Healing
I was blog hopping at the weekend and came across a link to link to a wonderful site called Willowing & Artist Friends, where Tam is running an amazing free 4 week online art workshop. As I have been thinking about starting an art journal for some time but never seem to do anything about it (other than thinking) the week one project really captured my imagination (create a front facing portrait over a double page journal spread). So, after much deliberation, should I, could I? etc. I took the plunge and had a go after watching Tam's video tutorial. I am not as disatisfied with my first attempt as I thought I would be and it has inspired me to keep trying safe in the knowledge that there is no right or wrong way to create art and a portrait does not have to look 'real.' Unfotunately this was painted (and stamped) onto a piece of watercolour paper with acrylics and shimmer inks as opposed to an art journal, as although I did intend buying one earlier in the week, I've hurt my back and been stuck in the house for a couple of days. The paints I used have been languishing in a drawer unused for a few years and I'm glad I finally opened them.

OMG your paiting is beautiful.
Awesome work.
Great work, you must be so pleased. Hope you get better soon.
My neice has been telling me for a couple of years to enroll in an art course but there's nothing round here (well there is one but it's taught through the medium of Welsh and I know my Welsh isn't up to that standard.) I would never have guessed this was your first attempt at anything like this - you obviously have a talent for it and I hope the art journal goes well. Hope your back is better by now too.
